Conflict in relationships – we hate that, don’t we? Most people would rather have a root canal without anesthetic than deal with conflict. Yet, relational difficulties are a reality of this life, aren’t they?
At some point, someone is going to give you offense . . . or . . . you are going to offend someone. These can range from very minor to outright sin. Trying to deal with it directly often just results in a contentious, angry, acrimonious exchange without any resolve. Who wants that?
It’s easier to just avoid the person and the subject and keep smiling – the kind of smile that keeps that person a thousand miles from your heart and your business. Life has taught you this is the safer path but . . .
Is this God’s path? Is this what is taught in the Bible regarding how Christians are to relate to each other, generally? And, how about those relationships in the local Church? What does the Bible have to say about those?
In today’s FAITHFUL LIFE podcast, we’re discussing how to approach others when they offend you and how to walk through the process of restoration. Are you walking biblically with others in your local Church or are you putting armor over your heart and keeping others at a safe distance with impenetrable cordiality?
There are some people you’d be a fool to trust and the Bible makes provision for that situation, too. The Bible is full of unexpected things! It’s not about lying down and rolling over like some helpless puppy and being sinned against yet again. In all relational conflict, the Bible requires real relational accountability in the local Church.
For the vast majority of our relationships – where trust can be restored – God has given us the road map to restoration . . . question is, “Will we travel that road, walking in obedience to what God requires of us?”
Let’s learn what the Bible teaches and how to move forward.
