Many Christians have marriages that give off the same vibe as a soviet-era housing project – functional but unfeeling and a little (a lot!) drab. Nobody wants to live there but, what can you do?
And, is it okay that the guy preaching on Sunday morning has a marriage that nobody wants? No wonder romance is falling on hard times in the Church, these days. Maybe it’s time to ask ourselves why romance fiction tops the christian fiction bestsellers list on Amazon! It couldn’t be that many women are starved for romance, could it? Even though it’s sad to see a couple missing out on the best God intended in their marriage, it is understandable when you think about all the pressures and priorities life throws at you to squeeze out any hint of romance.
But is romance really all that important in a godly, christian marriage – from a biblical perspective? I can hear some men groaning . . . “We have to talk about that?” Yeah, Big Guy, we do! Do you know, for instance, what does the Bible even say about the subject? When you look into it, it’s downright fascinating . . . and a lot surprising . . . maybe even a lot convicting!

5-Star Review by a Husband
★★★★★ “Something here to enrich any marriage out there” by ALBL
This book can be very helpful if you apply it the way the author intended. Now, not everything in here will apply in every marriage or to every woman. That being said, there is something here to enrich any marriage out there. I have found myself doing some of these actions before I read the book, but now I have an actual purpose in doing these things.
As a man working to repair a marriage, I read this book from front to back, applying a few of these ways to show love and affection every day. It has helped a lot this week alone. This is not a long drawn out book either, and it doesn’t take a lot of time away from you to start applying. I plan on reading this book again and highlighting key points that I want to apply more.

Yes, we’re all busy but, the truth is, what you pursue with our time, you treasure in your heart . . . and everyone knows it, especially your wife! We always have time for our real priorities, don’t we? The question is, are our priorities in marriage aligned with God’s priorities for us?
Romance in marriage isn’t everything . . . but, it isn’t “nothing” either – especially when you take God’s perspective into account.
Proverbs 5: 18,19 say . . . Let your fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of you youth. Let her be as the loving dear and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy you at all times; and be ravished (intoxicated/drunk!) always with her love.
Maybe you celebrate Valentine’s Day, maybe you don’t . . . either way, what’s really important is pursuing each other romantically. Don’t miss out on the best that has been prepared for you before the foundations of the earth . . . let the Author of Romance guide you in blessing each other on the romantic side of your married life together.
If you need a few suggestions – Lisa and I have listed 5 surprisingly romantic, doable dates (no matter where you live!) that won’t break the bank . . . which one would you and your wife/husband enjoy?
