It get’s complicated . . . and, it can be pretty funny . . . or not . . . and Lisa and I have had both. Healthy communication is so important to every marriage which is why we are tackling this topic in this episode of Faithful Life Podcast: The Best Communication for a Great Marriage!
Dating couples headed for marriage don’t have to be told that what you say, how you said it, and when you say it is of extreme importance. In those early days, it’s all about connecting, understanding each other, spending time together and being careful to be understood. Then comes marriage and it’s as if men and women have a frontal lobotomy on the topic of communication.
Healthy communication is vital for a positive, fulfilling marriage – for you, and for kids who watch every day as mom and dad interact.
Christian or not, communication in marriage is difficult for most spouses. Why is that? You love each other, right? So, why is there a challenge being heard and understood? (How both spouses often feel!)
How would you characterize the tone and quality of communication in your marriage? Do you have an open, loving way of interacting or is there a high degree of tension and acrimony? Do you stuff your feelings to keep the peace or do you just “let it all out” and deal with the aftermath?
