The Power to Build Up or to Tear Down – How Do You Use Your Power?

It’s the end of the day or the week and you’re coming together to connect. Is this the moment to “unload” on your husband/wife all that is wrong with your day? Sometimes the smallest adjustments can have the biggest positive impact.

I can remember coming into the room at the end of a day and everything was perfect – house in order, amazing aroma emanating from the kitchen, but I noticed something when the front door swung open. Did I notice all the good things? All the positive things? Ugh . . . not exactly! I noticed some socks under the couch across the room. “Hey, who left the socks under the couch?” Sad to say, I really said that . . . and in the process deflated my amazing, wonderful, loving wife.

The topic of this episode of FAITHFUL LIFE podcast: Weekend Edition is how we greet each other at the end of the day when we are coming together. Have you thought about that . . . about how you greet your spouse when he/she comes through the door and you are connecting after a long day. You have a lot of power in your words and demeanor. How are you using that power? Your approach will set the course of your evening and weekend. Join the conversation as Lisa and I “tell on ourselves” about the times we’ve gotten this wrong . . . and the times we’ve gotten this right!
