Most Christians go through life with the vague sense that God is constantly displeased with them, punctuated by moments when He’s really upset – like some disgruntled dad with a permanent frown and a fly swatter in his hand, just waiting for the moment you fall out of line.
Does this describe how you generally think about God – that He’s just never really pleased with you? The moment something unpleasant or negative happens, it’s just one more indication that God is put out with you, again. Will He ever be pleased?
