Give Your Son a Vision of the Man He is Becoming

You have a son but, are you raising a man? And, what’s more, are you raising a son who knows God and is determined to pursue a faithful life . . . faithful to God, his wife, and his kids?

Wait, my son isn’t even married . . . in fact, he’s just a small boy!

Regardless of your son’s age, you are raising and training someone’s husband and someone’s father. Do you have a vision for who your son is becoming? That’s deeply important because whether or not you are focused on this reality, you’re leading, training, and discipling your son into the man he will become.

Does your son know who he is and where he is going in life? Does your son have a vision for the man he is becoming?

We hear a lot about this millennial generation floundering through life, unsure of who they are, putting off maturity and manhood, living in their parent’s basement, headed nowhere in particular in life – embarrassed to refer to themselves as men and harboring a deep-seated belief in their own inadequacy. While this is a tragedy, it’s not an accident. This generation is living out the values and training they’ve received.

A boy left to himself is not a good thing. Boys will be boys! . . . as the saying goes. True, but men will remain boys, too, if they are not giving given a vision of the men they are becoming and aren’t invited into the company of men. Every son (certainly daughters, too, but we’re talking about sons, here) needs a vision of who he is becoming and a future to aspire to. Is your son focused on the man he will be in a few short years?

This is what today’s episode of FAITHFUL LIFE podcast is all about – the vital role Dad and Mom play in (and how to go about!) giving your son a vision of the man he is becoming. Are you excited about your son’s future as a faithful man? Do you have a plan for directing him toward God’s best? You’ve got some competition out there, don’t you? This world has plans for your son, too. Join the discussion about how to get him focused on God’s amazing plans for the man he is becoming.
