Many people think of themselves as biblical Christians. Then they discover what is actually in the Bible – what it teaches on, say, marriage, and other topics – after which they prefer the smorgasbord approach. I think I’ll just take what I want and leave the rest.
For the biblical Christian, picking and choosing isn’t an option. Either what God says, goes, or we make our own way based on what we have decided is important. Which option do you identify with? Are there things in the Bible you just can’t accept or are you a truly biblical Christian – someone who accepts the entire Bible and what it teaches? If the Bible is just a grab-bag of good suggestions and helpful ideas, then it makes sense that you would take only what you want and leave the rest. But if this approach is taken, where does it lead? And, what does this say about who is really “God” in your life?
It’s important to settle this question because the answer will affect how you make the most important decisions you make in life.
In this episode, we discuss the Bible and the place it has (or doesn’t have!) in our lives. Should you trust the Bible or is it just some old book with some wisdom, here and there?
